A total of 12 scholarship applications were received this year. It is obvious the need and desire is out there. One $500 scholarship award is available to eligible 2019 graduating seniors from a high school outside of Lakeside/USD 272 or students attending a higher education institution that did not graduate from the Lakeside/USD 272 district. They must be a descendant of a confirmed DHSAA Member and live in the US.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Ann Fletcher Schreiber Memorial KU Scholarship
This $1500 award is available to ANY Kansas high school senior OR a current KU student who is planning to attend KU in the Fall of 2019 AND is a descendent of an eligible Downs High School graduate (parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt or uncle)
Ann’s nephew and his wife, Brian and Kirsten Minear, are funding via the DHS Alumni Association,this $1500 scholarship for a student attending Aunt Annie’s beloved University of Kansas in the fall of 2019. We know her spirit will be at every basketball game.
Tetlow - Downs Community Scholarship
The Tetlow - Downs Community Scholarship is administrated by the Greater Salina Community Foundation
Students can begin applying for this at on November 1st of each year. Deadline is February 15th.
Applicants shall be in good standing to graduate from Lakeside High School, Downs, KS
Applicants must attend a public of private college
Applicants must plan to major in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
Agriculture may be considered if it is a part of a STEM area. Example: Agricultural Engineer, Science, etc.
Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply as part of the total applicant pool if they have a minimum 2.5 cumulative college GPA.
