Name: Schoen, Brad HistorySusan (Cary) and I married in May of 1979 and have been happily married for the entire 29 years since. We have two children: Keith a - senior to be at K-State, and Kelsy - a sophmore at Manhattan high. Kelsy shares my misfortune with things athletic as she also now bears an ACL scar on her right knee.
I got out of the Army in 1981 and attended K-State for two years thereafter. Got hired at the Riley County Police Department (in Manhattan) in 1983 and have been there since. Love the work - by the way!
Most notable (and fun) personal achievement lately? For the past two years I've done Bike Across Kansas (BAK). This year my Dad rode from Downs (the route went thru Downs) to Beloit with me on a tandem. Then Susan rode the Eastern half of the state with me on that same tandem. Great fun!!!!!!!!
MemoriesRiding in Ralph Streit's red Plymouth Grand Fury III thru the grader ditches North of town. I didn't know you could drive that fast actually IN a grader ditch. Roaring down East/West dirt roads South of town in that same car and trying to jump the hi-way. We never quite made it across the entire hi-way airborne and tore the bumper off the car one night. God knows how we didn't all die a crash induced, fire hastened death. How in the name of all that is right and just did I ever get into law enforcement? Interestingly, I met Ralph's niece years later when she came to our house. She couldn't believe "Uncle Ralph" had been so reckless.
