Name:
DeFord, Bob
HistoryAfter high school, I attended KU for several years but ended up dropping out and doing construction work in Lawrence, Downs, and Manhattan. In 1977, while in Manhattan, I met the Lord and, as they say, my life has never been the same since. I met my wife Judy in Manhattan (she's from Ness City, Kansas) and we later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and eventually to Omaha. We have three children -- two daughters aged 27 and 22, and a son 20. Our oldest has two children, aged 4 and 4 months, so we are grandparents. Our youngest two are in college here in Nebraska.
In 1988 I went back to college at UNL and got my bachelor's degree in English. Since graduating, I've worked for a large corporation in Omaha doing a variety of jobs such as technical writing, Web development, and online course development. In recent years, I've begun teaching English as Second Language to international students as a volunteer. In fact, I couldn't be at our 40th reunion because I was on a missions trip to Amman, Jordan to teach English. MemoriesI have many, many good memories of growing up in Downs and going to school. The memories that come to mind are Spanish Club, doing speech and drama activities, Mr. Gaede's science classes (he was so funny), and Mrs. Stubbs as my English teacher my senior year.
