HistoryApril '09) After careers in Topeka, Sacramento, CA and back in Downs with Cary Trucking, I met my wife, Joy, and we were married in 1997 in Texarkana, TX. A life long teacher and speech pathologist, she encouraged me to also become a teacher. In 2000 I became certified as a special education teacher and am now in my 9th year of teaching at West Mesquite HS, Mesquite, TX, a suburb of Dallas. I currently teach an autistic unit and plan to do so for another seven years until I qualify for full teacher retirement. I completed an MEd in Reading at Texas A&M Commerce in 2008 and am also certified as a reading specialist. My wife and I like to travel and camp on weekends. We travel to Mexico frequently where we both have taken and continue to take extensive courses in Spanish language. We plan to travel full time when we retire.
