History

Graduated in May 1974 from Kansas State with a degree in Home Ec Ed,(now FACS); Taught for 3 years in USD #407(Russell) at Luray High School. Returned to Downs and worked at Muck's Hy-Klas Grocery and Brush Art Corporation. Married Steve Christie(from Osborne) on September 29, 1984 and we lived in Downs. Daughter Sara Elisabeth was born on December 2, 1986. Patrick Alfred arrived on October 18, 1989. Lucinda Thelma joined our family on February 10, 1992. Steve decided he wanted to own his own his business so we moved to Mankato, KS after purchasing an existing business; which we named Mankato Plumbing & Appliance. Our "firecracker" Jarrett Blyth arrived on July 4, 1993. I have worked in the plumbing shop and the past five years I have done substitute teaching. Sara is a junior at K-State majoring in business education and Patrick will graduate this spring and plans on attending Wichita State with a major in sports administration. Lucinda is a sophomore and Jarrett a freshman, so I have a few more years of high school activities. Along with volunteering at our Ute Theatre, I also enjoy being a part of the Harmony United Methodist bell choir.

Memories

I enjoyed being a part of the band program, especially the "Swing Band." Mr. Arnold Sandquist was instrumental in getting me interested in band. After leaving DHS I became a member of the "Pride of Wildcat Land: The KSU Marching Band" for four years.
