History

After graduation, I moved to Garden City, attended Garden City Community College, got married and enjoyed 20+ years in the Credit Union industry, followed by 10 years in the insurance industry. My husband (a retired Wichita Police Officer) and I are retired, live in Wichita and enjoy being surrounded by our 7 (his, mine but no ours) children, 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. We are so blessed and life is good.

Memories

I have such good memories of growing up in Downs. That was such a special era of innocence, goodness and family togetherness. I remember riding bikes all over town with my BFF Patty, especially going to the "low water bridge", playing on the banks of the river by our house, going to the skating rink if only to watch my idols skate, playing "capture the flag" in our yard, 25 cent movies on Saturday nights, going to the swimming pool & eating but most times only smelling the Louie Burgers, family picnics in the City Park, helping my brothers deliver the Grit newspaper, cruising Main on foot, checking out the boys, going to all the ballgames and leading cheers! When my siblings and I are together, we continue to tell stories and laugh about our time growing up in Downs.
