Name: Schreiber, Kent (aka Richard) HistoryAfter graduation, I attended Fort Hays State University for my B.S. and M.S. degrees and then went to the University of Idaho for my Ph.D (zoology and ecology). I married Linda Kortman from Colby in 1964; we have two daughters and one
granddaughter. My jobs with the government involved time at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (TN) and with the Fish & Wildlife Service (MI, WV) and U.S. Geological Survey. As a research manager I was fortunate to be involved in some international programs and was
able to travel in Europe and Scandinavia. In 2005, I retired; we have been enjoying travel and our hobbies, including photography, woodworking and writing. MemoriesLooking forward to the basketball games (remember the bonfires), proms and "Senior sneak" were major events. Our sneak had the extra thrill of a snowstorm on the return trip and spending a night sleeping on the floor in the high school at "Peyton" CO, where we also helped them celebrate their prom. Teachers have a great effect on your life and Mr. Dryden is particularly remembered for his science and math expertise and enthusiasm. Class plays were always fun as were the contests and "secret construction" of the class floats for the Homecoming parades. A small school and a small town bring many advantages and a major one is the opportunity to be involved in so many things during those great years as a Downs Dragon at DHS.
