History

My parents / brother / I came to Downs in 1955, my senior year. I graduated and attended Kansas Weslyan University in Salina and Ft. Hays State. I worked for Boeing, then entered the Army and was a clerk typist in Chicago / Korea. I married Evelyn Forney in 1961. I farmed / worked at Downs Oil / was custodian at DHS. Our oldest daughter and family reside in Olathe.  One of our twins lives in Olathe; the another in Colorado.  I'm retired.  My parents passed away in the last two years. Recently we moved to their home. I enjoy woodworking / mechanics.

Memories

I appreciated playing basketball at DHS. Dad, being that the coach always said I had to play that much better than anyone else in order to start. One of my memories is when school was dismissed due to the chicken entrails being put in the study hall. I remember going to Cawker over the noon hour. I felt very welcomed coming only my senior year.
