Posted 06-06-08 Building Donated to DHS Alumni
Dear DHS Alumni,
We have great news to share! Darrel and Ruth Miller have generously donated their building (the former Cellar Door) to the DHS Alumni Association. We are
in the process of fixing it up for the purpose of displaying and storing the memorabilia that was saved when DHS closed. Our goal is to have the building ready by July 10, in time for the Downs celebration and homecoming reunion.
As always when taking on a project such as this, funds to buy supplies can be a problem.
The DHS Alumni Association is a non-profit organization and operates solely on yearly memberships of alumni and other generous donations. Some of the items
needed to get the building in order are a new or repaired awning, de-humidifier, carpet, paint, shelving, display cases, table and chairs to start with. In addition to funds needed for remodeling, there will be utility bills and other expenses for upkeep of
the building.
The building will be open to the public during celebration each year, as well as holiday weekends throughout the year. There will always be a key available
at other times if needed.
We hope to reach our goal, but this can only be accomplished with your help. Donations of any amount can be sent to the DHS Alumni Association treasurer:
Kelly Meyer at 808 Division St., Downs, KS 67437.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and support of the endeavors of the DHS Alumni Association.
