WANTED: REUNION ENTERTAINMENT

We would like to include some good ole’ Dragon Alumni entertainment at the program. Are there any brave DHS individuals or classes out there who will volunteer some talent? Step Up with that Dragon Spirit. Let’s have some FUN!

DHS Scholarship

Guidelines and requirements for the DHS Scholarship were set for future scholarship recipients. We awarded the first $250 scholarship at the 2008 banquet to Renzo Draayer. He is the son of Stephanie Koops Draayer and the grandson of the late Gerald Koops, who were both DHS Graduates! There will be a fundraiser at the reunion designated for future scholarship funds.

Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer to help with the website to help cut down on our costs. If you are interested and meet our requirements, please contact one of the officers.

WANTED:
A DHS Alumni who has working knowledge, training and previous experience of website development in MS Front Page. Our site is now 55 plus pages, and growing per assumed forthcoming "year" sections, not counting the individual profile pages. Will need to have a firm grasp on the necessity of site file folder management, file paths and layout attribute settings to keep things straight.

Project Update    View Photos

Darrel and Ruth Miller graciously donated their building at 813 N. Morgan to the DHS Alumni Association. Local members met in early May 2008 to discuss what should be done to fix it up. Subsequently, many hours of hard work and sweat went into getting it ready to display the memorabilia that was saved when DHS closed. Tearing out old carpet, preparing the floor for new carpet, and lots of painting were the main focus for several weeks. Finally it was time to move in. Many boxes of trophies, plaques and clothing were brought from storage and unpacked. Mayhem ensued when it was time to decide where to put it all! A new sign, donated by Brush Art, was put on the window and the huge limestone rock was moved in. Everything came together nicely the week of celebration. A lot of work still needs to be done. The front awning needs replaced, new ceiling tiles, and the east wall needs repaired

We have had several alumni families donate or loan DHS items to be displayed. If you have something in storage, we would be glad to add it to our display. We are also looking for annuals to be donated to our small collection.

Coach Meryl “Bull” Garey and friends have been busy this winter repairing broken trophies and building a new display case. Stop in to see the updates! The building is open during celebration and you may contact any of the local listed members to let you in anytime you are in town.
